Hinglish

Samkvæmt þessari grein í IHT hefur orðið til afbrigði af hindí með miklum enskuslettum, sem kallast manna á milli "Hinglish".
In all this time, the importance of English never diminished. The advent of the Internet and globalization only strengthened English. India became clearly divided between those who knew English and those who didn't. The linguistic distance translated into a clear and vast socioeconomic divide. Although spoken in eight states and understood in all of them, Hindi was neither hip nor socially acceptable.

Then in the mid-1990s, cable TV started rapidly spreading across India and indigenous music channels started using a mixture of Hindi and English in their programming. What began as spoofs on the English used by Indians were soon transformed into a fizzy mix of the two languages. Suddenly, Hindi with a smattering of English acquired status.
Hindí hefur því vaxið ásmegin og þykir mun "fínna" að tala híndí með enskuslettunum en gamla "official Hindi".
