Next stop: Syria?
It is a tribute to Hafez al-Assad's reasonableness as a diplomat and irresponsibility as a leader that Syria is the only country called a sponsor of terrorism by the State Department that has diplomatic relations with the United States.Úr leiđara New York Times í dag.
New York Times bendir á alla ţá augljósu ókosti sem stjórnvöld í Sýrlandi hafa, hvernig ţau skjóti skjólshúsi yfir terrorista og séu hugsanlega međ efnavopnaprógram í gangi. Aftur á móti, einsog Sun Tzu sagđi, "Ţekktu óvini ţína betur en sjálfan ţig" og í lok leiđarans segir:
War against Syria, however, makes no sense. The United States has its hands full in Iraq. More important, Washington will only live up to the worst expectations of the Arab world if it now adopts a belligerent military approach to every nation in the region that it dislikes. It may be possible, however, to use the threat of diplomatic or economic sanctions to encourage Damascus to reconsider its hostile policies in the wake of the fall of Mr. Hussein.Ég bara neita ađ trúa ţví ađ ţessar kenningar um "Írak í dag, Sýrland á morgun" plan Rumsfelds séu réttar, ţ.e.a.s. ađ Sýrland sé nćsta "frelsun" á dagskrá bandaríska hersins. Ef svo er, ţá er ég endanlega algjörlega hćttur ađ skilja nokkuđ í neinu hvađ gengur á milli eyrnanna á ţessum skrattakollum í Washington!
